Get to know Juan

Juan Lopez Estevez, proudly raised in St. Petersburg, hails from a family of Cuban refugees who sought the American Dream. Since 1975, his family members have called District 3 home, with roots in Shore Acres, Harbor Isle, and Snell Shores.

Growing up, Juan was immersed in the community. He spent his childhood living in the Harbor Isle neighborhood, learning to swim at Shore Acres Recreation Center Pool, and participating in youth sports at Fossil Park and Roberts Recreation Center. He is a graduate of Holy Family and Clearwater Central Catholic High School.

His family's commitment to public service runs deep. His mother and father retired after long careers in education and public works, and his brothers have dedicated years to serving the city.

Juan is a University of Florida graduate with degree in Sports Administration where he lettered in Track & Field. He also holds a second Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of South Florida. With a wealth of experience working with prominent organizations such as the USF Sun Dome, the Miami Heat organization, and the City of St. Petersburg, Juan now serves as an accomplished sales executive at the Tampa Convention Center, achieving record breaking revenue and economic impact growth for the Tampa Bay region over his 12 years of leadership.

Beyond his professional success, Juan is a dedicated community leader. He has been involved with organizations like CONA St. Pete, St. Pete Police Citizens Academy, St. Pete Together, Feeding St. Pete, and more. He even serves as a Hurricane Shelter Operations Supervisor in times of crisis. In his leisure, you can often find Juan showcasing his musical talents on the guitar at local open mic nights.

Juan's mission is to bring his municipal experience in generating revenue growth to the city. His top priorities include addressing key issues such as infrastructure, housing affordability, the new Rays stadium & historic Gas Plant redevelopment, transportation, improving our quality of life, and managing our rapid population growth while preserving St. Petersburg’s identity and charm. Juan Lopez Estevez is committed towards a brighter future for our community.
